QUALITY MATERIAL
Our scarves are made from pure, eighteen-momme silk twill, a light- to mid-weight fabric that drapes over the form beautifully while still being firm enough to hold its shape when tied.
The design is then printed on the fabric with rich, high-penetration dye that ensures the color appears bright and vibrant on both sides of the scarf. Finally, each edge is hand-rolled and sewed for a clean, beautiful finish that will last a lifetime.
HANDCRAFTED DESIGN
Each element of a design is sketched, painted, and arranged by hand. These watercolors, works of art in their own right, come together to create a timeless piece that both honors the history of its inspiration and is unique to the style of Les Précieuses. Both prints and originals of some of these watercolors are available for purchase.
PAST MEETS PRESENT
Les Précieuses is inspired by Baroque art and literature, a movement characterized by drama, contrast, and elaborate design. It appeals to both the intellect and the spirit, conceding no exclusivity between reason and wonder. Far more human than the symmetrical, almost intimidating perfection of the Renaissance that preceded it, yet grounded in a depth of meaning lacking in its effervescent successor Rococo, the Baroque recognizes the singular truth that art shapes humanity as much if not more than humanity shapes art.
